The castle Neuschwanstein was built from 1869 to 1886 under the reign of King Ludwig II. At first the ruins "Vorderhohenschwangau“ and "Hinterhohenschwangau" were supposed to be built. But instead the castle Neuschwanstein was built in the type of c castle of the middleages. Today it is one of the most famous buildings of King Ludwig II. The castle is located in an outstanding and exponent spot at a rock above the "Pöllatschlucht". Visitors will have a breathtaking view from the castle.

The castle was rebuilt 1833 to 1837 to a castle in neo-gothic style by the bavarian crown prince Maximilian who later became King Maximilian II and had been the father of Ludwig II.
